JETCO was launched in Bedford, NS by a couple of local Engineering graduates Alan Harlow and David MacVicar. Alan and David, both attended Saint Mary’s University and then the Technical University of Nova Scotia (TUNS), where they received their Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering. The two ended up working together for the first time in '98 for a couple of years, and then from 2003-2005. In February 2005, they felt the call to go on their own.
Alan, born and raised in Sable River, NS was baptized into construction, where his family owned Harlow Construction, produces ready mix concrete, sands, and gravels, and provides excavation services. The Harlow’s have been and continue to be a presence in the south shore community, volunteering their time and resources, which values Alan brought with him to the city upon graduation. Alan, his wife Marci, and their four children Tyler, Colby, Mason, Ashley live in Stillwater Lake.
David was born and raised in Bedford by a couple of teachers who are familiar faces across the community due to their presence in the schools, on committees, and in the stands. David continues in the spirit of his parents volunteering time coaching and fundraising for sport teams. David, his wife Marci, and their two children Jaime and Ethan live in Fall River.
How did the company get its name? In February of 2005, Marci and David had two young children named Jaime and Ethan, and Alan and Marci were pregnant with twins to be named Tyler & Colby. With Alan and Marci optimistic there would be others, the acronym JETCO was formed. Jaime, Ethan, Tyler, Colby, Others (Mason in 2009, Ashley in 2013)
